Which broker import should we support next?

You know the part where you download the file from your broker, and then sit there matching columns one by one, every month? That's the bit we want to take off you.

We're trying to cover as many brokers and banks as we can, and the list in the app keeps growing. The honest limit isn't effort, and it isn't difficulty either: for a lot of them we simply don't have the export format. Every broker writes its file differently, and there's no way to know how yours writes it without somebody who actually uses it showing us one.

That somebody can be you, and it takes about ten minutes, once. After that, nobody with your broker matches a column again.

1. Tell us your broker

Name and country, one line. If someone already said yours, reply to them so we can see how many of you there are. The ones most people ask for come first.

2. Send a sample file

To hello@turbobulls.com, no need to wait for us to ask. What makes a file useful:

  • Your export as it comes out, with your data swapped out rather than deleted. Every column stays, header row exactly as your broker wrote it.
  • Fake values in their place: RO00XXXX0000000000000000 for an account number, an invented name, round made-up amounts.
  • Number and date formatting left alone. If it says 1.234,56, keep it that way. Same for currency codes and the exact wording of the transaction types.
  • Bank statement? The description column kept, and the header and totals rows, with invented shop names. That's what an import has to recognise and skip.
  • Five to ten rows, covering the kinds of entries you have: buy, sell, dividend, fee, deposit, withdrawal, currency exchange, a split, a correction. The awkward ones help most.

Editing it without breaking it

Caution

Double-clicking a CSV into Excel and saving it again quietly rewrites it: your dates come back in a different shape and 1.234,56 turns into 1234.56, which is exactly what we need to see. Two ways round it:

  • Google Sheets: File, Import, Upload, and set "Convert text to numbers, dates, and formulas" to No. Edit, then File, Download, Comma-separated values.
  • A plain text editor: Notepad or Notepad++ on Windows, TextEdit in plain text mode on Mac, Sublime, , VS Code on either.

If your export is an XLSX, any spreadsheet is fine. Change the values, save it as xlsx.

Warning

Don't paste anything from the file here, not even the column names. This community is public. Files go to hello@turbobulls.com, where they stay private, get used to build the import, and are deleted afterwards.

We won't throw dates around, these get built one at a time. What you will get is a post here the day yours works, and the Broker scout badge on your handle 🏅 with it in the release note (if you don't tell us otherwise)

No date yet, and we'd rather not guess one. What speeds it up most is an anonymised Revolut statement: send it to hello@turbobulls.com with "Broker export: Revolut" in the subject. We'll post here the day it ships.

Good news, @django01: Revolut’s investment account is in 2.0, which is out today, so your Revolut history can come straight in. The price history import you +1'd is live too, on a custom asset’s Prices tab. If you try the import, tell us how it goes.

Got them, thank you. 🙏 That's exactly what we needed: an importer can only be built from a real export, and now we have one from each.

We'll work from your samples and post here as each one goes live. When the first one ships, you'll get the Broker scout badge. No date yet; we'd rather post it working than guess.

If anyone else here uses Avanza or Montrose, a second export helps. Brokers often write their files a little differently from one account type to another.

@thepatientvisigoth Avanza and Montrose are live as of today, in 1.78.0. We built them from the samples you sent, combined with what we already knew about how the two brokers write their files. The Broker scout badge 🏅 is on your handle, with a thank-you in the release note.

To use them: Import, pick Avanza or Montrose under Sweden, and upload the transaction list.

      • Avanza: Min ekonomi, Transaktioner, Exportera transaktioner (CSV). Each account in the file (ISK, kapitalförsäkring, depå) becomes a broker of its own.
      • Montrose: Transaktioner, exported as CSV. Each account becomes one broker.

If anything looks off, tell me here in words (no real figures, please, the community is public) and I'll look straight away.

The same release adds Trading 212, eToro, Trade Republic, Saxo, Tastytrade and Investimental, so if your broker is one of those, it's ready now.

@django01 no news on Revolut investing yet.

Everyone else: keep naming your broker and country here, and send a sample as described in the first post. Each one we get becomes an import.

yes, Freetrade is on our roadmap. But since you asked for it we move it to the top of our list. To help us implement it faster, you can send us anytime an anonymized export at hello@turbobulls.com

Good news, @scholarslams: Freetrade is one of the new importers in 2.0, which is out today. Give it a try with your export, and tell us how it goes.

It’s better than on the roadmap: Bitvavo is one of the new importers in Turbobulls 2.0, which is coming very soon. 😄 The whole export comes in, not just your trades: deposits, withdrawals and the other cash movements too.

If you have a Bitvavo export, we’d love for you to try it when 2.0 lands and tell us how it goes. You’ve been our best broker scout so far. 🤗
