Import of investments with custom assets

I want to import an investment account with 26 custom assets. It is a "unit link" product, but the "units" are not publicly traded (they are "funds" created and managed by the insurer).

I mapped everything correctly in the csv to import. However Turbobulls asks me to create each asset by hand before being able to import the file, instead of creating them automatically.

I think that if the assets cannot be found or mapped, they should be created automatically as custom assets. And then allow the user to edit them later, and enter the correct classifications for each asset.

A related idea:

Classifications could also be imported in the same csv (allow for additional columns that could be mapped for that - as optional columns).

Great idea, and good news: in 2.0, coming soon, you can add an unknown asset as your own right from the import, instead of creating each one first. With 26 funds that makes a real difference.

Classifications as extra columns won’t make it into 2.0, but we’ve noted them, and it’s a sensible next step. Until then, you can set the country and sector of each asset after importing, under Edit asset → Classification. A bit of clicking, but you only do it once.
