Custom assets: price history warning is misleading, and prices can only be uploaded one asset at a time

After importing my history, a warning shows: "Some rates approximate from the earliest available value - your requested date pre-dates our price history", followed by a long list of assets.

  1. The warning is misleading for custom assets. Most assets in that list are custom assets. Their history isn't missing from the app's data: it's mine to upload. For custom assets, the warning should say that prices before that date are missing and link to where to add them.
  2. One price file per asset. To add history to custom assets I have to open each asset and upload its own file in the Prices tab. With hundreds of custom assets, that's not practical, and it also makes monthly updates slow. Please allow one price file for many assets (Code, Date, Price).
  3. Readability. The warning is small and in light colours, and the list of assets is hard to scan.

Thank you, all three points are fair, and two of them are being worked on now:

    • Your own assets get a note of their own. Instead of "pre-dates our price history", it will say they have no prices before those dates, so each one uses its first price until then. Each asset in the note will open the place where you add its prices.
    • Easier to read: larger text in full colour, dates written out (22 Apr 2019), and the whole list one click away instead of "+N more".

One price file for many assets: agreed, and Code, Date, Price is the right shape. It is a bigger change, because each asset's price history is saved and synced as one encrypted record, so updating hundreds at once needs care. We will look into it.

I will post here when the new note is live.
