Readability: small text, low contrast, and no way to make it bigger

Turbobulls is really well built and version 2.0 is a big improvement.

However, during my tests I found the text small in general, and it gets worse in the secondary lines under figures, labels, explanations and notes, which are also in light grey on a white background. For example, "Money in less spent", "From outside your accounts", "Over the period" or "Back and held, for each 1 put in" are hard to read, and they carry the meaning of the number above them.

There's no setting to change the text size or the contrast.

The monospaced font used for figures also hurts readability at small sizes: it's wider and lighter than the main font, and it's also used for words next to the numbers ("a year", "a day"). A proportional font with tabular figures would keep the numbers aligned in columns and be easier to read.

Feature request: larger default text (especially for secondary lines), darker grey (or a high-contrast option), a text size setting, and a proportional font with tabular figures for numbers.

Thank you, and thank you for the kind words about 2.0.

You are right about the lines under the figures, and we are working on them now:

    • They will go up a size, so "Money in less spent", "Back and held, for each 1 put in" and the rest are easier to read. Their grey already meets the contrast standard for small text, so the size is the change there.
    • Text in our lightest grey will get darker wherever it carries meaning. That grey was too faint.
    • "a year" and "a day" will move to the normal font, so only the numbers stay in the number font.

Two things we are keeping as they are:

    • A text size setting: your browser's zoom (Ctrl or Cmd with +) already scales the whole app, and the browser remembers it for the site, so we are not adding a setting of our own for now.
    • The number font: monospaced figures are a deliberate design choice, and we are keeping them. Moving the words next to the numbers out of that font should fix the part that read worst.

I will post here when the changes are live.
