Categories are not being imported in csv uploads (Wallet Transactions)

I am trying Turbobulls and importing a test account with only 15 transactions. I mapped Category to the correct column in the CSV, however categories are not being imported. Every transaction is imported as uncategorized.

I thought that maybe this was because I didn't create the categories with the exact name first. So I cteated them.

Tried again but same thing: amounts match, but every transaction comes as uncategorized.

Maybe a bug.

You are right, and thank you for pinning down why rather than only reporting that it did not work. The import recognises categories you already have, which on a first import is none of them.

This is the part 2.0 changes most. The import workflows are rebuilt from the ground up, and creating what the file refers to instead of only matching what already exists is the heart of it, so categories, tags and assets all come with it.

That is the release you are waiting for, and it is close.

Thanks for clarifying, that helps. The current import indeed doesn’t read the Category column at all, so every line lands in Uncategorized whatever the file says, even when the categories already exist.

For your 15 lines, the quickest fix today: select them on the Wallet page and move them to their category in one go.

And this is one of the things 2.0 fixes properly. The import reads your Category column and matches it to your categories even when capitals or spacing differ. It offers to create the ones you don’t have yet, and when it isn’t sure, it asks you instead of guessing. Your test file will be a good try for it.
